Red Bagels is looking forward to starting off 2019. An entire year during which we will strive to increase our happiness and goodness footprint. Continuing to enjoy bringing more love and joy into the world.
The year kicked off with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm. It started with our very first event which took place on the 7 January 2019:
The Selwyn Segal’s residence party was a lot of fun included a disco, a petting zoo, and a buffet of tasty food. The residents loved the music and really enjoyed interacting with the animals. Note that this will hopefully be an annual event even though the actual type of event will change every year.
On 23rd January 2019, the Red Bagels Trust was approached to assist in a very worthy, vital, longer term project for the Chevra Kadisha through their Pillars of the community section. This project falls under the overarching Sandringham Gardens Kitchen Project. However it will have a much wider impact. This is due to the fact that the kitchen will also benefit Selwyn Segal, Sandringham Lodge and Square, and Our Parents Home. In addition it will also have an impact on the meals that are distributed to the community outside the Sandringham Gardens premises. All of which are in need of this vital service.
The old kitchen needed a complete update. It was no longer big enough to meet the needs of the community. In addition, the outdated equipment was badly in need of repair. Soon the problems with the kitchen would render it unhygienic, including broken tiles, cracked surfaces, and inefficient appliances. A completely new kitchen was required in order to address all these issues. When this new kitchen is completed it will provide approximately 3000 meals a day (which will add up to approximately 100,000 meals a month). We are extremely proud to have been able to accept the honour of assisting in this project with our first donation towards the new kitchen.
