March started off with the proposal and plans for a new project for the Ciniselani Stimulation Centre. We met with Patricia and Nkosana. After the usual brainstorming session we agreed on how to repair the Centre the damage caused by the storm. It was concluded that we would build a slightly bigger storeroom than the original one to accommodate the needs of school in the future.
We had just started the project when we unfortunately had to stop work because Nkosana, our builder, was involved in a car accident. We are extremely grateful that he is okay, but his car was so damaged that he had no transport for his team or the goods to the building site. Therefore, we were forced to bring in a new builder until the transport problem was resolved due to a tight schedule caused by the more extremely heavy rains or possible second cyclone expected soon. The new builders, under the supervision of Patricia and Nkosana, are working extremely hard to complete the project on time. We hope to share the completed project soon.
With the Covid situation sadly continuing unabated, resulting in an ever-increasing number of people finding themselves asking for assistance with food parcels, we were happy to provide Passover meals for the community over this period. Red Bagels is so fortunate to be able to respond by donating a record amount of meals this year to some of our regular charities, namely, the Chevrah Kadisha as well as Yad Aharon and Michael. Additionally we have added an extra well-deserving charity to our list, namely, the Union of Jewish Women. A huge achievement in a Covid year where so many people were very sadly not able to donate at all especially over this time when families are celebrating Passover together, which increases their financial needs.
Yad Aharon and Michael were extremely happy to be recipients of our increased donation, which assisted them to meet the needs of the growing list of families requiring assistance. Their appreciation is expressed in their letter of thanks that you can read here.
Red Bagels has also managed to add an extra recipient this year. It makes us incredibly happy to welcome on board the Union of Jewish Women who now join our growing list of charities. So extra families were able to benefit from the much-needed financial support over the Passover period. They also sent us a beautiful thank you letter.
What a magnificent month March turned out to be. We are sure that we created many, many extra smiles and lots of joyous holiday meals this month.
