April was a very challenging month. Unfortunately there were a lot of obstacles to overcome as Nkosana was unable to return to work and Patricia suffered a personal setback. Sadly we have been unable to continue our work with Ciniselani at this time.
However, we did leave our special children with a lovely gift of new school shoes plus some extra food and treats. With winter on the way, the children were extremely happy and excited with their shoes . Most of them have never owned a new pair of shoes, which added to their excitement.
Sadly, Cape Town was once again the victim of some huge fires. These always leave a path of destruction behind them and this time was no different. Red Bagels was therefore happy to help restore things as much as possible with a donation made through our old friends, the Woman of the World, to the Chabad Campus Fire relief fund that they were supporting. This donation will be used to supply students in residence on campus with Kosher breakfasts each morning in addition to many other necessities. Helping them feel like they were at a home away from home.
A hard month indeed. We are happy to report that we still succeeded in spreading a lot of joy and kindness. We are delighted to report that once again another month has ended on a much better note than it began.
Red Bagels has once again achieved our goal to leave the world around us a kinder and happier place than it was.
Kindness, what a simple way to tell another struggling soul that there is love to be found in this world.
